The Brief

Identify and attract a commercial HR 'thought leader’ who could drive the performance of a leading international organisation through its people.

The role is responsible for the development and execution of the people strategy. The Chief People Officer would also need to act as a leadership coach and mentor to the Operating Board. Therefore, suitable candidates needed to have the presence and gravitas to influence at the highest level. Cultural fit with the CEO and Board was a key factor.

The Process

The Fortune Hill team spent half a day shadowing the CEO, meeting key individuals and 'star performers' within the organisation.

This exercise proved to be extremely valuable in understanding the business' culture and also the necessary experience and behaviours required for success. A list of target companies was compiled and signed-off by the client. 120 possible candidates were identified across the UK and Europe. A shortlist was presented and each candidate was considered suitable following the first and second stages of the client's interview process.

The Result

Fortune Hill enabled the client to identify and attract a person they considered to be a ‘perfect fit’.

This individual was previously the European HR Director at one of the world's leading consumer organisations with an enviable employer brand. The mutual attraction between organisation and individual was obvious to all stakeholders and the interview process was completed within three weeks. The financial negotiations had been handled prior to the final interview, ensuring a smooth close to the process.
