The Brief

Identify and attract a ‘world-class’ reward and benefits specialist who could support this international organisation through a transformational period of growth

The role was also a succession hire, planned to assume responsibility for Reward and Pensions for the group alongside Employee Relations. The Head of Reward would interact at every level of the business, from colleagues in customer contact operations, to engaging and influencing the Executive Board. Suitable candidates needed to have the deep and complex technical knowledge and experience, combined with the gravitas to influence change at every level.

The Process

In order to ensure that the fit was fully appreciated, we spent a significant amount of time with key stakeholders to understand the business’ distinctive culture.

Our in-house Research Consultants meticulously mapped out all businesses with a particular focus on organisations which had won awards for employee reward and benefits programmes. We looked extensively at a variety of levels, within major consulting businesses, financial services and other consumer brands. We regularly updated the client and offered detailed insight into the market, including setting up a number of benchmark interviews to help further crystallise their view as to the right level and type of profile to hire.

The Result

Fortune Hill enabled the client to identify and attract a person they considered to be the ideal candidate for the role.

This individual was previously in a Senior Reward and Benefits role with a major Financial Services organisation. They had all of the prerequisite skills, the deep technical knowledge and significant experience of engaging with C-level stakeholders. More importantly, they were the perfect culture fit for our clients business. The interview process was fast-tracked and completed within only a few days. Prior to the final interview, Fortune Hill facilitated a visit for the candidate and their family to the local area to explore potential locations and amenities for the family's relocation.
