Appoint a Trading Director to build a team to establish the organisation as a dominant player in their marketplace.

A key component of our client's growth strategy was to gain significant market share in the consumer electronics market. They created the Trading Director role to build and lead a team to establish a dominant position in the space. This person had to be an expert in electrical product retail and have the gravitas to influence a complex business which had largely been focussed on other product categories.

The Process

We extensively mapped out key competitors to understand their structures to identify both established Trading Directors ‘high flyers’ at the next level.

We then made contact with each individual, rigorously qualified their suitability for the assignment and more importantly assessed cultural fit. A small selection of individuals were taken through competency and behavioural interviews before presenting the client with a shortlist of candidates who they considered to be perfect for their requirements.

The Result

Fortune Hill enabled the client to identify and attract a high flyer who has since been promoted to the Executive Board.

Fortune Hill facilitated the appointment of an individual who was at the time Head of Trading at a leading Grocer, with previous experience in various Category Management and Commercial roles for a leading international consumer electronics retailer. The individual brought significant experience in consumer electronics retail as well as a significant supplier network. Since his appointment, the category has delivered growth well ahead of the market.
