The Brief

Our client wanted to appoint a Chief Marketing Officer to drive expansion into international markets.

We were tasked with appointing a Chief Marketing Officer to create and implement a marketing strategy that would drive our client's planned expansion into new international markets. This individual needed to be a digital marketing expert, who was highly strategic but also capable of working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and would likely have experience in the US market. This was a newly created role within the business and it was essential that the successful candidate had the right personality to work closely with, and earn the trust of, the business' founder and owner, who had run the marketing function until this point.

The Process

Fortune Hill’s research team meticulously identified and mapped out digital SMEs and prioritised digital businesses that had a subscription-based model and those which were international in scope.

One of the challenges of the search was identifying individuals who had sufficient strategic and senior leadership experience, but who could still play a hands-on role in the delivery of strategy in this entrepreneurial business.

The individual ultimately appointed was very data-driven and results-focussed and joined the business from another digital organisation. He was a perfect cultural fit for our client's business and someone who the Founder and owner felt confident in bringing in to take over the marketing function.
